These are arguably the best china protectors on the market. The plates are secure in the rigid containers. They are tall enough to hold 12 plates that have a tall "foot" on the base of the plate. I am able to place a few extra regular china dinner plates ( that do not have a tall foot) in a case ( approximately 15 plates). The zippers work well. They are attractive. The woven fabric seems durable. I bought the china protectors in both the beige/gray and the teal. It would be great if they also sold the x-large dinner plate size box and the next size down.. the large size (good for soup bowls) as separate purchases as you sometimes buy extra china in the event a plate breaks. You are able to buy an extra set of the smaller size protectors for fine china place settings that include a bread and butter plate and a fruit bowl. This is also why I choose this particular set. I wish they would sell a thick foam insert for the dinner plate size case that would hold 12 teacups. Older china protectors from the 80's had such dense foam beds in a dinner plate case for the teacups. I think they could find a supplier to cut such a foam insert with two levels, six cups per level. The teacup protector they offer does not offer much protection for delicate bone china teacups and this style is better suited to the more modern styles of dishware sets that are now quite popular. This is why I think they could offer the dinner plate size box and a foam insert such as I mentioned for those trying to store antique bone china or other formal sets that have delicate teacups. This way they would service both customers... those with modern dishware and those with bone china. Both my antique bone china and also my modern dishware fit in these boxes. Very pleased with this purchase. The only fault with this set is that the felt dish protectors are way too small to protect the plates. I had to buy an extra set of felt dish protectors to place in between the dishes. For the price I think they could upgrade to more useful felt protectors.
